MAGNOLIA IN THE DESERT
24th of June. Just another typical lazy afternoon. I had to check the e-mail messages that piled up on my account over the past week. Well as expected bulk of the mails I got were just SPAM. It seems that I have to reset my mail filter every now and then just to rid my inbox of all those rubbish. After sifting through my mails, I then signed-in to Yahoo! Messenger and Windows Live Messenger to check on the offline instant messages (OIM) I received from friends. Surprise! I got a message from a friend whom I haven’t contacted for over a year now. With a simple “hello” and “kumusta ka na?”, I was quite relieved to get a message from her. Recalling that the last time we talked, she had been going through a lot. I felt for her. She had unburdened part of her pains and joys, that last time we talked. Then the communication got cut-off after that.
Having lost contact for over a year, I immediately replied to her message. “Hi ate, musta na po kayo?” Since her status is offline, I expected that I’ll probably get a reply a day after. But hoping for a reply, I just let my YM stay online while browsing through the net. After an hour, came a reply “Ok lang naman ako…”
The conversation went on for just approximately 15 minutes as she was preparing to go to work then. But I was quite happy “hearing” from her. I never knew she had gone through over my blog entries through 3:30 am the past night so I was quite surprise when she told me so… The conversation started from there…
I am happy. You know why? Becasue the wilted Magnolia flower I came to know is starting to blossom again in the middle of the Iraq desert!
Be safe Ate Noia!
