THE 7 NEW WONDERS

7 July 2007. It seems that a triple-7-fever hit millions of people worldwide. A handful of them declared a new set of “Wonders” of the world after a polling period which accounted 100 million voters worldwide. They almost put to a vote the “Pyramids of Giza”! I can just imagine how the Egyptians would feel about that. Being the only one left of the “7 Wonders of the World”, putting the Pyramids to a vote is very ridiculous to say the least!

But in any case, taking into account the 100 million voters, which approximates 1.67% of the world population, the new wonders are as follows:

Chichen Itza in Yucatán, Mexico

Christ the Redeemer in  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Great Wall in China

Machu Picchu in Cuzco, Perú

Petra in Jordan

Roman Colosseum in Rome, Italy

Taj Mahal in Agra, India
