MOVIE BLITZKRIEG
The night before the blast in Glorietta, I went there to watch the movie Stardust. Although the movie’s trailer was a bit unimpressive, I trusted the author of the story, Neil Gaiman, enough to proceed and experience another book-to-movie experience. If the trailer was a starking disappointment, the movie itself is another story. The characters and scenes of Gaiman’s novel seemed to leap out of the book the way I imagined them, [just some :p], mesmerizing and creatively
captured in an hour or two spectacle. The movie has its romantic and comedic elements so it’s far, by lightyear, from boring. Robert de Niro is so funny! And who can forget the line “No star shines with a broken heart…” and be gratified with the catch of breath of the one you hold hands with while the movie unfolds. Perfect. The P130 bucks was all worth it! Haha.
Two weeks after, I went to Glorietta again and caught the advance screening of Ang Lee’s Lust and Caution. As I was about to hand in the movie ticket at the
entrance, the usher asked, “Sir, may 18 years na po ba kayo?” I couldn’t help but laugh as my friend started laughing too. I said, “Why, thank you, I’m 24…” and handed the ticket with a mischievous grin. The lady blushed but she was adept enough to hide it with a smile. Haha. Darn, am I still looking like a teenager? Haha. Anyway, the movie as expected was good, more than good. The hype it generated when it won the Lion Award was no chance luck. Lee, deftly brought back Shanghai from the 1940’s era. With those “crazy” bed scenes and one “stabbing” scene who can say Lee wasn’t good at handling themes like this. I didn’t have the stomach to watch the whole “stabbing” part though as it looked too genuine with all those blood and knifing! Ouch! I had to avert my eyes.

Ive heard some good things about this blog. Remember to balance the pics with the text tho. cheers!
